About us
The story behind Tasmanian Mobile Locksmith
Tasmanian Mobile Locksmith has been keeping Hobart’s doors turning and hearts steady since 1989. We’re a family of locksmiths who fix what’s stuck and care about the people behind every key.

The tale of a locksmith, a daughter, and a dream that stuck
Back in ’89, when mullets were brave and mobile phones were bricks, a young bloke named Rob Damen started Tasmanian Mobile Locksmith with one van, one baby daughter, and a knack for solving tricky problems. He wasn’t chasing fortune or fame; he just wanted to help neighbours feel safe and get back inside when life locked them out.
What started as a simple mobile service around Hobart grew into a family tradition of reliability and craft. Rob’s daughter, Emma, grew up watching him at the workbench, and now she’s steering the ship with the same steady hands, only with better software and fewer paper invoices.
These days, our team’s a mix of veterans and young guns, all sharing the same pride in honest work. We’ve seen every jammed lock, snapped key, and break-in panic Southern Tasmania can throw our way, and we still show up with a smile and the right tools to put things right.
A young bloke with a knack for fixing things
Before there was a business, there was Rob and his toolbox
Rob Damen started turning screws and solving problems long before the company had a name. What began as a trade soon became a calling, helping people feel safe and get on with their day.

The year it all began
One van, one baby, and a dream that stuck
Tasmanian Mobile Locksmith was born in Hobart, with Rob juggling newborn nappies and emergency callouts. From the start, it was about neighbours helping neighbours and doing the job right, no shortcuts.

A craftsman joins the fold
John swaps jet engines for door locks
After two decades in aviation, John Dunne brought his precision and patience to the team. His steady hands and sharp mind made him a cornerstone of what Tas Mobile Locksmith stands for today.

The Wizard arrives
Leighton brings tech magic to the mix
When Leighton Reinkowsky joined, things got clever. Known as “The Wizard”, he cracked the code on automotive and digital security, proving that a good locksmith never stops learning new tricks.

Still family, still local, still trusted
The next generation keeps the flame burning
Rob’s daughter Emma now runs the show with him, carrying on the family promise of honesty, skill, and genuine care. Forty-odd years later, the faces have changed, but the heart hasn’t.

The values that keep the fire burning

Hands-on in our hometown
We’ve been part of this patch of Tasmania long enough to know that helping out matters more than talking about it. When the community needs a hand, we just roll up our sleeves.
- Fix locks and security at local halls and sports clubs.
- Donate gear and time to neighbourhood projects that need a boost.
- Share know-how with young tradies finding their way into the trade.
