Mobile
Locksmith is on duty all day every day
Concerns
about home security are always paramount, but for
the older section of the community, the issues can
often be confusing.
The
best options, cost and ease of operations are just
some of the considerations. That's why Frank and
Louise Clare of Tasmanian Mobile Locksmith believe
a major part of their job is education - they
work at ensuring people not only get the right locks
or service to suit their needs, but that they also
feel comfortable with their security arrangements
and can operate all the locks effectively.
"The
first things seniors really need is to at least
have deadlocks and window locks" said Louise.
"But
we've found that people really need good advice
on how to use them. Education is a big part of our
jobs".
"The
main thing is that a lot of people are almost scared
of them" added Frank.
"They
think they'll get locked in or even trapped inside
if there was a fire".
There
are simple procedures for people who own deadlocks
that can make things a lot easier.
"People
should really only use deadlocks when they are not
in the house" said Louise.
"But
if they do use them when at home they should keep
a key with them at all times - even sleep with one!"
Another
aspect of the business that has won favour with
seniors is both male and female staff are on hand.
Women
living alone, who have had their home broken into,
will be visited by both Frank and Louise.
"If
a senior lady who is living alone has her house
broken into she will be feeling scared or violated
and a male locksmith late at night can really push
the stress levels. So even if I just stay in the
background while Frank does the work it's a comfort
to them to have a female face around" Louise
said.
It's
all part of the service, she says, as the business
operates 24 hours a day. They are sponsors of Senior
Card and the only RACT approved lock repairers in
Hobart.
However,
home security is not the only service the 16 year
old business provides. Aside from locks repairs
and fitting and the door and window locks, they
provide mobile key cutting and they are car lock
specialists.
